Google assistant with work account

Hi everyone,

We're setting up Android Auto on fully managed devices through Android Enterprise, but we've run into an issue. When using the voice assistant to make calls, it fails because Google Assistant seems to require signing in with a personal account. Unfortunately, since we block personal Google accounts, our users can't log in, which prevents this functionality from working.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? Are there any solutions that don't involve enabling personal Google account login?

Thanks in advance for your help!

To be honest i ran into this issue privately (disabled Google Assistant on my private device but wanted to use android auto in the car with voice control) and needed to enable it again (would really like to have it only enabled if Android Auto runs).

So, it's like you mentioned, you need Google Assistant for it and you need a "real" account logged in to use that.

And yes, i fully agree that this is painful but i don't know a way around that yet. My best guess is that this was not considered to be used yet on a fully managed device without a Google account.

From my point of view, those generic accounts should provide possibility to use apps like Google Assistant, Gemini, Docs,... just without the web/cloud-saving/sharing functionalities.

Thank you for the reply, it really feels like Android Auto is a after thought on Android Enterprise, we had issues with COPE devices which made us switch to fully managed, and now also encountering issues here too. We have tried applying app profile granting permissions through intune but this hasn't made any difference either.
