Microsoft Intune bind - Something went wrong - Your account wasn't created

I am trying to connect a Managed Google Play account to Intune so I can use Android enrollment. As of this article: Connect Intune account to managed Google Play account - Microsoft Intune | Microsoft Learn - As of August 2024, you can link your Microsoft Entra identity account to a Google account, instead of using an enterprise Gmail account.

I am therefore trying the bind with the *@domain.onmicrosoft.com account, which is correctly identified as Microsoft account and offers to use it, but at the end I am getting:

Capture2.PNGCapture.PNG

Something went wrong
Your account wasn't created

I have of course tried to clean browser cache, incognito window, etc. nothing works.
If I try to login to admin.google.com Console, says that account does not exist.

Thank you

Did you manage to find a fix for this? I have successfully (with errors) set this up for one client where the account used existed as a personal google account, but for another client I ran into the same issue you did and it seems to be the step where the account is created.

I noticed that Frist and Last name are greyed out on the setup steps (but marked as required) so I wonder if this is related?

Hi,

Yes, I solved it. The account information that is greyed out is pre-filled from user account that is logged into Intune. Here I suggest logging in as a service account that was created specifically for the purpose of connecting Intune with Google. In my case, I used something like GPSA@domain.com.

Also, it didn't work until I assigned a temporary M365 license with an Exchange Online mailbox license to this service account. MX record for your domain also needs to point to Exchange Online.

After this, the account was connected without any issue.
