Disabled apps
Friends! Lately Im getting lots of cases regarding apps not starting on our dedicated devices managed in Intune. Edge is the most common problem. If I start Google Play on an effected device I see that the app is disabled. Pressing the Enable button does nothing at all. The version of Edge installed is quite old, which is also strange since it should update automatically. Only way to fix it is to reinstall the app. Any ideas what the root cause can be and how to mitigate it?448Views1like8CommentsRe: How to manage app using Intune
Hello Community! Trying to blow life to this thread. How about using Closed Tracks?! The developer can create multiple tracks, on for each version, and they can reuse them to multiple customers by inviting them to the track, without the need of creating separate packages for each customer. From the customer side you can select what version/track you want to deploy to your devices via EMM and also have full control of when to move your device fleet to the next app version. In worst case you can also downgrade (reinstall) to a older version. I know the intent of closed tracks is not for this use case, but why not? Feel free to comment! //Niklas824Views0likes1CommentRe: Is Google Play Closed tracks for testing only?
Hi Moombas, Thanks for your reply. So, if a developer want to deliver apps to us it "should" be done via Private track, right? In that case it also means that the developer need to create a a separate package ID just for us? I see a gap here, a problem for the developers. If it is not supported to use Closed tracks, where a developer can create multiple tracks/versions and invite multiple customers, then they have to use Private tracks which means that they have to go through massive administration, creating separate package ID´s for each customer, and also build separate tracks for each version and for each customer. This will most likely result in that developers won´t offer that option, since it´s too complex, which then will result in big companies, like the one I represent, to not choose Android as plattform since we lack control, and that would not be good for Google. I understand that the intent with closed tracks maybe wasn't to solve use cases like ours, but what is it exactly that is a risk of using it like this? Hello Community! We have a business critical app delivered to us from the developer in Google play closed tracks. When a new version is released, the developer creates a new track for us giving us full control of when we test it and to what assignment group we want it to be installed. When we are satisfied with our testing we assign the lates track to our production devices. I recently got the question if Closed tracks is not just for testing apps, and not to be used for production as we do. I would like your help to elaborate on this. Does anyone use Closed tracks the same way as wee do? Do you see any downsides or risks by managing apps this way? Thanks for your feedback! //N673Views0likes10Comments
