Known issues with Android System WebView 139.0.7258.160?
Hi everyone we have some reports about OAuth2 Login issues on Android devices with Microsoft Conditional Access rules. Some device (very small amount) are not able to login to some specific apps where the OAuth Login is being made with an embedded Browser session. During investigation we found out, that all users are on Android System WebView version 139.0.7258.160. Users without issues are running 139.0.7258.158. We don't know whether this is the issue but I wanted you asked whether other admins here are having similar issues in the last couple of weeks. Are there any known issues about certificate based logins with Android System WebView currently? Thank you! We use COPE for almost all devices and what we often see is that app updates in the work profile are not successful because of these: App updates in personal profile are not automatically applied. Sometimes you have to guide users even to install all pending updates before you can complete the work profile app updates. App updates in work profiles are paused because there is a incompatible version of the same app installed in the personal profile. (I can remember the exact error text).26Views0likes0CommentsSamsung Devices: Can't call from a personal app
Hi everyone we received some reports from our users in the last couple of month that suddently the phone app on COPE devices (Samsung A-series) starts to show "Can't call from a personal app" - Your organisation only allows you to make calls from work apps. Workaround: Reboot the device. For most of the reports this workaround has to take place once and the message is gone forever. A very small amount of devices starts to show this message again after a couple of weeks. Rebooting is resolving the issue again. Any idea of how to prevent this? Even emergency calls are not possible if this error is appearing! Does anyone else have seen this behavior? Raised a case with Samsung today. Thanks! The Google Messages fix has been released! Steps to recover: Delete the message thread with the short code number Clear cache of Google Messages app Restart the Google Messages app and start a new thread for the short code number The message is now being transported correctly.27Views0likes0CommentsRe: Google Messages App: SMS to shortcode not able to send
Hi, thank you Moombas No it is not feasible as a general workaround. My personal device (Samsung S25) has migrated the Samsung Messages App into the Google Messages app a few month ago. The Samsung messages App is no longer installed on the device. I must install a "real" 3rd party app to bypass the Google Messages app. For my own personal issue this may be fine but not as a corporate solution. Lizzie Any news from your side on this? Thanks a lot!80Views0likes1CommentRe: Google Messages App: SMS to shortcode not able to send
Hi Lizzie thanks for reaching out! Great to hear that there is already an internal investigation ongoing. I am participating in the beta of Google Messages app and just installed a fresh build. Unfortunately the issue is still there. Installed version messages.android_20250701_01_RC00.phone_samsung_openbeta_dynamic Did you find out any more details on this and the release of a fix? Thank you, I appreciate it! Daniel110Views0likes0CommentsGoogle Messages App: SMS to shortcode not able to send
Our Provider (Vodafone Germany) is using a SMS shortcode number to be able to order an upgrade on dataplans by sms. Once the monthly contract plan (e.g. 1 GB) have been used users will receive a sms from 70997 to inform that you can answer the SMS with "1" or "2" to restore your data connectivity. We ran into the issue that the Google Messages app seems to have some sort of bug with sending SMS to this kind of shortcode number as it alway says "Not sent" in red error text. Provider tech support told me that the Google messages app is prefixing the number with "49" resulting in a wrong / unknown number (4970997). They cannot fix that from their side as the issue is within Google messages app and asked me to install a 3rd party messages app.... *ugly* Is this something I can request to investigate from here? I will also create a case with Samsung tech support as we are mainly using Samsung devices as our corp. device fleet. Thank you! Hi Lizzie sounds good, thank you. Do you have a version number for the fix? My Pixel 8 Pro is currently on "messages.android_20250304_00_RC01.phone.openbeta_dynamic" updated 07th March. Have to check my test devices for a stable release version name to compare... Hi Lizzie Happy New Year! Are you able to update the ETA for the app update with the fix? Thank you! Kind Regards Daniel1.3KViews1like6CommentsRe: The customer reported to us a problem with contact SMS which is not displayed on the personal side (only the numbers are displayed but not the names of the contacts)
Phone app and Google Messages App in side by side view. In the Phone app the work contacts are present, in Google Messages app it only shows the phone numbers. After clearing data, force stop the Google Messages app and open it up again it will work for 2 or 3 days. After that is is returning to this state again. Raised a case with MSFT as our MDM is Microsoft Intune yesterday. edit: My Google Message version is on "messages.android_20241029_00_RC01.phone_samsung_dynamic"2.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: The customer reported to us a problem with contact SMS which is not displayed on the personal side (only the numbers are displayed but not the names of the contacts)
We have the exact same issue!! This is also in discussion in the Google Messages support community here: https://support.google.com/messages/thread/283903567/work-contacts-not-showing-names-in-messages-app?hl=en2.4KViews0likes0CommentsWork contacts not showing names in messages app
There is a thread in Google Message support community: https://support.google.com/messages/thread/283903567/work-contacts-not-showing-names-in-messages-app?hl=en We are experiencing the same issue! Is this issue already under investigation with Google? Raised a case with Microsoft as we use MSFT Intune as our MDM. Thanks Daniel311Views0likes0CommentsRe: Wifi profile on Android Enterprise via Intune
We use Dedicated devices (not Zebra however...) with SCEP and WiFi without any issues and along with Honeywell and Samsung OEMconfig. We are using a SCEP certificate configuration with Certificate type = "Device", not "User" Did you try to change that value into "Device" already?1.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: [Enhancement Request] Allow push notifications during OOBE setup process
Thanks Lizzie just to add: we raised a feature request with Microsoft support about a year ago and the declined and stated that they can't fix that because it is an Android system behavior. They officially stating the MFA limitations on their docs. All the way down on this page: Require multifactor authentication for Intune device enrollment - Microsoft Intune | Microsoft Learn2.2KViews0likes0CommentsRe: [Enhancement Request] Allow push notifications during OOBE setup process
Same here, we struggle with some users complaining about the MFA process during OOBE because they select receive code via SMS or phone call but this will fail because the authentication can never be completed during setup. So users need to setup different ways, most likely a second device has to be involved!2.3KViews1like0CommentsGlobal contact lookup from system dialer via Outlook App
Hi everyone, I just trying to find out whether other Android Enterprise users/admins are struggeling with the same issue than we do. Our pain point is the user experience on making phone calls to (remote) contacts from an Android Enterprise device. Today, you can search personal and company / work profile contacts if they are saved to the local contact databases on the device. BUT you have to switch to another app (in our case MS Outlook) to search for remote contacts if you did not save/export the contact to the local contacts database. My DCR with MS is about a feature implementation into MS Outlook app to answer search requests for contacts from the dialer app directly into GAL. As far as I can see in the developer API of Android Enterprise this should be possible: Work profile contacts | Android Developers And: I did see this thing working on Android Enterprise enrolled devices on Google workspace! Are other admins thinking about this as well? Can we use the community to put pressure on Microsoft to make this a feature of Outlook? (if technically possible for sure!)1.1KViews1like2Comments
